Swine Flu

Many of you will be anxious about the recent outbreaks of swine flu. We are prepared, though, and we are being updated constantly on developments. There are a few things we would like to make you aware of:

PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE HEALTH CENTRE IF YOU THINK THAT YOU MIGHT FULFIL THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

●         RECENT (LAST 7 DAYS) TRAVEL TO ONE OF THE AFFECTED AREAS (AT THE POINT OF WRITING MEXICO, USA & CANADA)

●         A TEMPERATURE >38C

●         FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS, I.E. COUGH, HEADACHE, CATARRH, DIARHOEA/VOMITING

RATHER THAN ATTENDING, PLEASE PHONE US AND WE WILL TALK YOU THROUGH IT; IF YOU NEED SEEN, WE WILL ATTEND YOU AT HOME; WE MAY HAVE TO TAKE SWABS FROM YOUR THROAT AND NOSE (PAINLESS!); IF INDICATED YOU WILL RECEIVE TREATMENT AND WE WILL ENDEAVOUR TO TREAT YOU IN THE COMMUNITY.

As a result of the above we do expect a surge in our workload; we would therefore respectfully urge you to carefully consider your reasons for attending us over the next days and weeks. For example, requests for sick lines and special prescriptions can easily be dealt with over the phone.
